Do you have questions about the Episcopal Church or Anglican Communion? Email Father Duncan djepisc@sbcglobal.net.
Duncan came to Fremont in 2003 from his native Britain, and brings a wealth of experience from 12 years of ordained ministry in the Church of England. His last post before coming to Fremont was Diocesan Missioner in the Diocese of Durham. He believes that growth and evangelism are the most important tasks of the Christian Church. He says, "The Christian Church is only one generation away from dying. As Episcopalians we have often found it difficult and against our instincts to share our faith with those who do not yet know Christ. Yet, the consequences if we do not are serious.
"At St John's we try to provide an environment where people can have an authentic experience of the risen Lord. This includes thoughtful but faithful teaching from the Scriptures and worship which is focused on the life, death and resurrection of Christ. The Gospel is holistic. We therefore try to show God's love in every aspect of human life - spiritually, socially and physically."
Since arriving on this side of 'the Pond' Duncan has developed a love for American sports, particularly a misguided and frustrating passion for the Chicago Cubs. He enjoys film, contemporary music, politics and current affairs.
Duncan is married to Cindy and they have four sons in Fremont Public Schools.
"I hope that if you are in the Fremont area on a Sunday morning you will join us to worship the risen Christ. We trust you will experience His love and joy with and in us." |
